Planning

From where we position compost & recycling containers to the types of utensils we offer, we want to make it easy for you to create a supportive foundation on which you build your regenerative event strategy using this checklist

  • Work with local vendors that know what’s up with renewables. Look for sustainably sourced and ethically made products created from biomaterials such as untreated bamboo, banana leaf, hemp, mushroom, wheat or potato starch for your utensils, plates, straws, cups and more. Consider using ice trays for shot glasses for a dissolvable solution to dirty dishes. If utilizing ceremonial herbs, plants or woods such as Palo Santo or Sweetgrass be sure to utilize in accordance with the sustainable practices of local & global indigenous communities.

  • Employ local vendors for composting and recycling. Align with food and beverage vendors on waste streams and proper disposal of food and beverage products. Have a gameplay for leftovers to be donated to a local food distribution center. Coordinate with the clean up create to utilize biodegradable and non-toxic cleaning products. Support local artists, photographers, videographers and musicians. Make sure your staff is trained on your various regenerative initiatives to encourage guests to follow guidelines and respect the efforts to maintain a low waste culture during your event.

  • Opt for rose petals, flowers and leaves over glittering and confetti. Utilize reusable props and settings to avoid excessive waste for temporary staging and beautification. Collaborate with a local prop house or vendors for rentals and decorations.

  • Create reusable, long-lasting signage and communication materials that you can easily reuse for another event and don’t have to throw away each time. Communicate your sustainability efforts to attendees before and during the event.

  • Create partnerships with public transportation and/or ride share services. Partner with local bicycle or scooter companies to offer alternative transportation options.

  • Plan a sustainable event menu by offering food and drinks grown or produced within 250 miles of the event, seasonal produce, imperfect foods, certified organic foods, water-wise foods or other ethically sourced and local options that will nourish your guests.

Cheers to a future of continuous growth, mindful choices, and events that are low waste while leaving a positive imprint on the world!
